Q: What are the visiting hours?
A: Visitors of all ages are welcome at all times
Q: How many beds does Resthave have?
A: We have 48 semi-private beds and 1 transitional private nursing room for a total of 49 intermediate care nursing beds.
We also have 21 private sheltered care / retirement rooms, 3 of which are extra large rooms and 1 sheltered care room, which is a suite.
Q: What are the present room rates? (September 2011 through August 2012)
A: Nursing rooms have 3 different rates depending on their level of care: $151, $156, and $161. Sheltered care / Retirement rooms are $86 per day and the three larger rooms are $112 per day. A private nursing room is $218 per day. The sheltered care suite for one person is $140 per day and $166 per day for a couple.
Q: What are the requirements to be able to live in the sheltered care / retirement rooms?
A: A person must be able to complete his or her own activities of daily living such as: dressing, washing, toileting, brushing teeth, etc. They must also be able to walk independently or they may use a walker or cane. (No wheelchairs)
Q: Is there an age requirement for admission to Resthave?
A: Persons joining us as residents must be at least 65 years of age whose physical and emotional needs can be adequately provided by the services available.
Q: Is smoking allowed?
A: Resthave is a smoke free facility. Smoking is allowed outdoors in a designated area.
Q: How often will my Doctor visit?
A: Your doctor will see you monthly for the first three months upon your arrival to Resthave. Then he will continue to see you every 60 days and when needed. Nursing staff are also always communicating with the physicians as needed.
Q: Can I have any Doctor I want?
Yes, as long as your doctor will come to see you at Resthave. We currently have four physicians that will do that now. Dr. Mark Woods who is affiliated with Mercy Hospital in Clinton, IA, Dr. William Bird \ Dr. John Luckey, who are affiliated with CGH Hospital in Sterling, IL and Dr. Denise Smith who is affiliated with Morrison Hospital, Morrison, IL.
Q: What happens if something is lost or stolen?
A: Resthave is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We prefer that your loved one does not wear expensive jewelry. We have a safe in the office for such items. We also have "accounts" available in the office where your loved one may keep up to $50 cash if they would like to have money available to them.
Q: Is there portable oxygen available?
A: Yes
Q: Can we take our loved one out?
A: Yes, we encourage them to go out as often as they would like and as long as they are able.
Q: Are we able to eat meals with our loved one?
A: Yes. You may bring a meal in, cook a meal in the activity kitchen or order a meal from our kitchen. We just ask that you tell the nursing and dietary staff ahead of time. The cost to order a meal from our dietary department is as follows:
Holiday Meals: $6.00 Sunday Noon Meals: $6.00
All other Noon Meals: $5.00 All Other Evening meals: $3.00
Q: Is there transportation available for outside appointments?
A: Resthave has a facility van available for nursing resident that are confined to a wheelchair. Resthave staff will transport a resident to doctor appointments with a family member in attendance for a fee. All other transportation will be the responsibility of family and/or friends.
Q: What are the charges to use Resthave's van for appointments?
A: Van and driver minimum hourly rate is $50.00. An additional staff member is $25.00 minimum and $25.00 per hour.
Q: What will I need to bring if I come to live at Resthave?
A: First of all, you will need to see your physician for Dr. Orders to come to Resthave. These orders should include a history, list of medications and physical exam.
You will also need to bring the following information:
· Social security card, Medicare card, insurance cards, drug cards, copies of your living will, Durable Power of Attorney or Power of Attorney for Health and Power of Attorney of Finance.
· If you will be driving a car, you will need your driver's license, proof of insurability and registration
· At least 6 or 7 outfits, undergarments, a robe and shoes
· Nursing: You may bring a 19" inch TV, a small recliner, pictures and bed spread
· Sheltered: You may bring furniture that will fit in your room nicely that will not cause safety concerns.
· You may also want to bring: sweaters, sweatshirt, slippers, non slip socks
Q: Who will provide supplies for my loved one?
A: Resthave will provide most supplies, such as tissues, toothpaste, lotion, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, etc. at no additional cost. However, if you or your loved one prefers a specific brand you will need to provide those items. Incontinence products can be supplied by Resthave for a fee or you may provide them if you prefer. Batteries, Polygrip and Polident will be an additional fee for Resthave to provide as well.
Q: Do we need to provide towels, wash cloths or bedding?
A: No, Resthave will provide these. If you would like to bring in your own washable pillows and comforter/bed spread you may.
Q: Are pets welcome to visit?
A: Yes, well-behaved pets are welcomed any time.
Q: What pharmacy will be used?
A: We use Oregon Health Care Pharmacy. They accept all prescription insurance plans, are on call 365 days a year for emergencies and package the medications according to state requirements.
Q: How is the laundry handled?
A: When new clothing \ blankets etc. comes in, we wash and label them with your loved one's name to prevent them from being lost. We prefer to do the laundry ourselves, however, if you would like to do your loved one's laundry on a timely basis you may. Please let us know if you are removing articles / items so that if your loved one asks about them we will know not to look for them.
Q: When is the best time to call and check on my loved one?
A: You are welcome to call at any time, even during the night. However, if possible, try to avoid calling during meal times as staff is helping serve our Residents. During these times, you may find it may take staff longer to answer the phone. Meal times are: 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., 11:00 p.m. to 12 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
